Rob Mayes

British Rowing Club Development Coach of the Year, 2021

Rob started rowing when he was unfit, unhealthy and working in a stressful city job. Indoor rowing classes at his local gym transformed his life – he lost weight, gained strength, and loved tracking his progress on the machine. The supportive community boosted his confidence and helped him handle work stress better.

Rowing's positive impact led Rob to compete in tournaments and join a rowing club, where he learned teamwork and commitment. After just two years, his crew qualified for Henley Royal Regatta. Six years later, he continues racing with the same passion.

Wanting others to benefit from rowing as he had, Rob became a qualified Rowing Coach, British Indoor Rowing Instructor and Personal Trainer. Blade Rowers is his dream realised – making rowing accessible, fun, affordable and life-changing for anyone who wants to try it.
